Mithlesh Chaudhari

Since time immemorial, students have mimicked their teachers and Principals. How about a Principal who is equally good at mimes?

And one who’s not shy of making fun of herself, either?

Meet Mrs. Mithlesh Chaudhari – Principal and principle leader at MBIIS. Born in Shahajahanpur (Uttar Pradesh), Mrs. Chaudhari has spent over 30 years immersed in the magical and wondrous world of teaching – having started in Mumbai where she taught English.

Over the past three decades, Mrs. Chaudhari has groomed thousands of students and hundreds of teachers to better human beings.

She strives to liberate them of “tedium” – encouraging them to imagine, to innovate, and yet remain pragmatic. Her most potent allies – her ready smile, and her immense tact! Her approach has given all her wards (students, teachers and staff alike), a strong sense of who they are and why they are; and encouraged them to seize every possible opportunity to better themselves in every way befitting a human being.

Here’s a direct quote – when asked what she enjoys most about teaching (and education), her reply sums things up succinctly: “It (teaching) is the only way-of-life in which one can leave all life’s unhappy moments and events firmly in the past and concentrate solely upon creating a better, brighter and more vibrant future. When I am a teacher, I am not merely shaping the future - I am that future. I create it, and I have the opportunity to provide that future with the values and ethos that will sustain it and differentiate it from all the many pasts that it has left behind. I am the children. And they are me. We are one. That is the best thing about being a teacher.”

Surprise Element: Mrs. Chaudhari has even been an aircraft pilot! She learnt to fly at an early age in life, and that taught her something else – you need equal measures of skill, internal discipline and qualified external support, if you want to soar.

Yet, all that pales in the absence of a critical element – self-belief and commitment.

A firm believer in the paradigm of “God helps those who help themselves”, Mrs. Chaudhari has set her life’s mission to teach others to believe in themselves, firm in the knowledge that all of the universe’s support exists for those who strive.
